Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. is a non-profit organization whose purpose is to provide assistance and support through established programs in local communities throughout the world. The Sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 350,000 predominantly Black college-educated women. This includes over 1,000 chapters located in the United States, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea.
Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc was founded on January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women on the campus of Howard University.
The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust:
1. Economic Development

3. International Awareness and Involvement
4. Physical & Mental Health
5. Political Awareness and Involvement
On April 16, 1983, the Omicron Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority was established on the campus of George Mason University by seven trailblazing women known as Seven Steps from the Ground Up.
As the first African-American Greek sorority on the campus of George Mason University, the Omicron Rho Chapter has and will continue to make an impact in the George Mason community while upholding the vision of our founders by ensuring academic excellence, devoting our time toward serving our communities and strengthening the bonds of our sisterhood.
